City Clerk

The City Clerk is elected by the City Council immediately following the election and installation of a new Mayor.

The City Clerk serves as the Custodian of all records for the City of Overland. In addition to providing administrative support for the Mayor and City Council, the City Clerk performs duties prescribed by statute, ordinance, administrative rule or as directed by the City Council and City Administrator.

As the Custodian of Records the City Clerk attends all regular and special meetings of the City Council (which regularly meets in the City Council Chambers located in the Overland City Hall, 9119 Lackland Road, Overland MO 63114) on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 P.M.) and maintains a journal of its proceedings; posts all official notices and advertisements for the City; posts public hearings, agendas, and minutes of the Board of Aldermen; serves as custodian of public records under the Open Meetings and Records Law, and is responsible for the maintenance and/or preparation of all ordinances, resolutions, contracts and other vital documents of the City.

The City Clerk serves as the election authority, keeping and maintaining all election records and coordinating local elections with the St. Louis County Board of Election Commissioners; and provides voter registration and notary services.

Dedicated to furthering her education and professional skills, Ms. Burton has obtained designation as Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, and Missouri Professional City Clerk (MPCC) from Missouri City Clerk and Finance Officer Association.
